A female is lucky to be alive after falling down a steep embankment next to the Thames River.

Emergency crews were called to the area adjacent to the CPRI property on Sanitorium Road around 5:00 pm.m Saturday.

The woman fell approximately 40 feet.

Crews rappelled down the embankment and loaded the patient into a basket and then raised her up using ropes and rigging.

The rescue took approximately an hour to complete.

She was then transported to the hospital.

Her current condition is unknown at this time.
