Another barn blaze in southwestern Ontario has killed a large number of livestock.

OPP say upwards of 90 dairy cows died Monday morning following a barn fire just south of London.

Emergency crews were called to the property on Sunset Dr., south of Southminster Bourne in Elgin County shortly before 8 a.m. to reports of a fire.

Flames could be seen shooting from the building, and thick smoke caused visibility problems along Sunset Dr.

“There were no injuries as far as humans go in this fire, but a significant loss..right now the early estimate is about $1.5 million in damages and losses,” said OPP Const. Troy Carlson.

This is just the latest in a string of barn fires throughout southwestern Ontario this winter.

More than 2,000 pigs died in mid-January in a barn fire in Parkhill, while fires earlier in the month at two barns in the Guelph-area killed more than 50 horses, including 43 racehorses.
