London Police say they have laid several criminal charges against a 24-year-old man in relation to a serious hit and run collision Friday, that sent one woman to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Oxford Street West and Commissioners Road West shortly after 5 a.m. Friday in response to a collision between a pickup truck and sedan.

A GMC Sierra pickup was driving northbound through the intersection at a high speed, according to the investigation, when it collided with a westbound Chevrolet Impala.

The collision knocked down a traffic light pole, and both vehicles came to a stop in a nearby ditch.

When officers arrived at the scene, they were unable to locate the driver of the pickup, who had taken off on foot. He was located a short distance away by a Police K9 unit.

The female driver of the Chevrolet, name and age unreleased, was rushed to Victoria Hospital in critical condition. Police say she suffered several injuries in the collision including a fractured skull, broken pelvis, broken collar bone, and collapsed lung.

Her condition has since been upgraded to fair.

As a result, 24-year-old Cory Hallet of London faces the following charges:

Dangerous operating of a motor vehicle causing bodily harmFailing to stop at the scene of an accident involving bodily harmTake motor vehicle without consentTrespassing at night

Police say Hallet has also been charged with driving while suspended.
