One woman is being treated for minor smoke inhalation following a house fire in east London.
Police, fire and EMS responded to the fire call on Watling Street, near Oxford and Adelaide, shortly after 2 pm Thursday.
“We’ve had a fire caused by cooking that has been left unattended,” said Mike Black, fire platoon chief. “A grease fire on the stove. It got into the cupboards above the stove and then out through the vent which started to some of the exterior wall as well.”
The woman, the lone occupant of the home, was transported to hospital as a precaution.
Damage is estimated at roughly $15,000.
The fire is not considered suspicious.
