A firefighter was injured battling a blaze at a north London townhouse Thursday morning.

Firefighters arrived at a fire at 1630 Bayswater Cres. unit 11 about 7 a.m. and were able to stop it from spreading to adjacent homes.Flames gutted the townhouse and damage is estimated at $350,000.

One firefighter injured his shoulder after his foot went through a damaged floor. He was treated at hospital and released.No one was home at the time of the fire. One adjoining home had minor heat and smoke damage.

The London fire department said careless disposal of smoking materials was the cause.
