Excerpts from London Free Press: The scene of a CNR freight train derailment three miles west of London. The huge train was just crossing over the Oxford Street subway when the driveshaft broke. Three tank cars carrying gasoline exploded and shot flaming fluid over the wreckage. The crew of five was unhurt even though the center of the train became a blazing mass of debris. Thousands drive to see the crash near the city. The accident happened at 11 o’clock Sunday night and the fireball was seen for miles.
