A man faces charges after a brief but wild chase in a north London early Thursday, police say.
An officer spotted a stolen Jeep and gave chase near Taylor and Cheapside streets about 4 a.m. The vehicle collided with the police cruiser, sped off then hit a service station sign and traffic light at Adelaide and Cheapside streets.
The male driver fled on foot, but was quickly arrested. No one was hurt, police said, but the Adelaide-Cheapside intersection was closed for several hours while the traffic light was replaced.
A man is charged with assaulting a police officer, assaulting a police officer with a weapon, possessing stolen property, dangerous driving, resisting arrest and driving while suspended.
