A “pretty far advanced” fire at a house in London’s quiet south end was quickly brought under control when fire fighters descended on the scene Monday afternoon.
As crews arrived at 675 Country Club Dr. about 5 p.m., flames were coming from windows on both floors of the house. There were flames also coming out of the back of the house, Capt. Tom Nicholson said.
“We didn’t have to look for it, it’s looking right at you,” Nicholson said of the wall of flames he and his men encountered entering the residence. He estimates it took 12-15 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
The home’s owners were not in the house at the time. A damage estimate is pending, with the house looking from the street like it was entirely heavily damaged inside.
