Sofina Foods worker was pinned between transport truck and forklift in London Wednesday
A London worker was injured at an east-end food plant Wednesday morning, pinned between a transport truck and a forklift.
The worker at Sofina Foods on Trafalgar Street, who was not identified, appeared to suffer a broken leg, said London Police.
“At this point we think it is a broken leg, we are still trying to figure out what happened,” said London Police Sgt Alex Garrett.
“He was alert and conscious.”
The incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m.
The Ministry of Labour has been notified and will also investigate, said Garrett.
Robert Massey, a courier from a Toronto business, was making a delivery and witnessed the incident, saying there was miscommunication between the delivery transport truck and the forklift, trapping the worker.
“It happens periodically. I am still shaking, I am nervous,” said Massey.
Sofina is also investigating and did not have all the details needed to comment, said Kelly Cresswell, plant manager.
“It is still pretty fresh,” she said.
