A passerby helped a driver from a burning car after a head-on collision near downtown London on Thursday.
The London Fire department responded to a call at approximately 5:30 p.m. about heavy smoke and flames at the site of a vehicle collision on the eastbound side of the Riverside Drive bridge.
A car was on fire with heavy smoke as a result of the crash, said the fire department.
They also said a civilian was on the scene who helped the driver get safely away from the burning vehicle prior to the emergency crews arrival.
The driver suffered a minor head injury.
The department thanked the citizen for the brave act but said they don’t recommend approaching burning vehicles because of how volatile and unpredictable the fires can be.
Citizens should call 911 first, the department said.
