A London couple are on their way home from Quebec after learning their Colonel Talbot Road home has been destroyed in an overnight fire.
A passerby called 9-1-1 around 3 a.m. Tuesday after discovering the fire.
“When firefighters arrived, they found the house fully engulfed in flames,” said fire inspector Jack Burt at the scene. “Damage is estimated at $750,000.”
The only part of the home left standing was an attached garage.
Colonel Talbot Road was closed for four hours to allow fire crews to run hoses from a hydrant located across the street.
No one was inside the home when the fire started.
The cause is unknown, and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office will investigate.
