Extensive Damage Following Early Morning Blaze in Byron
There are no reports of injuries, but damage is extensive after fire broke out at a home in the Byron area Monday.
London fire crews responded to a two-storey house at 31 Robinwood Crescent, near Boler Road and Byron Baseline Road, around 1:40 a.m.
“(There were) two cars in the driveway, the two cars were on fire,” said District Chief Dave Walmsley.
“The garage of the home was on fire, as well as extending into the main home itself and also extending onto the home next door.”
Flames spread to the second floor of the house, also filling the residence with heavy smoke.
“There were two residents inside that were awakened by their smoke alarms and were able to safely get out of the home and call the fire department,” said Walmsley.
A fire inspector is on scene, determining the cause of the blaze.
An early damage estimate is up to $200,000.
