An investigation is underway into the cause of a blaze that sent two people to hospital in the Old South area Wednesday night.

London firefighters responded to a four-unit apartment on High Street at Wellington Road around 9:30 p.m.

“It was a bedroom on fire that was totally involved with heavy smoke and flames coming from the window,” said Platoon Chief John Hunt.

Hunt says two people were in the apartment when fire broke out.

Fire officials say the fire was isolated to the apartment’s bedroom and all other occupants of the building were able to return to their units after the fire was extinguished.

Damage is estimated to be around $70,000.

An investigator has been called to the scene to determine the cause.
