Nobody was injured, but several units were destroyed, and more than a dozen residents were left homeless after fire broke out inside a northwest London townhouse complex.

Members of the London Fire Department, along with London Police and EMS, were dispatched to 1460 Limberlost Road near Gainsborough Road, just after 11 a.m. Saturday.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but the wind-whipped flames eventually spread to neighbouring units, damaging a total of eight.

A damage estimate is not yet known, and the Salvation Army is working to coordinate accommodations and shelter for those with no place to go.

Family of one couple who lived at the complex with their new baby have started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds as their unit suffered fire damage.

According to the page, they lost their belongings, school text books, clothing, food, and their cat, who was trapped inside. They did not have insurance.

It’s not known when the damaged units will be safe to return to.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze.
