An overnight house fire in the city’s northeast end remains under investigation by multiple parties, and police say the blaze is being treated as suspicious.
Firefighters were called out to the two-storey, single family home at 1314 Basswood Road, just east of Huron and Highbury, at approximately 2:14 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials say two adults inside the home, believed to be in their 50s, were able to make it out safely thanks to working smoke alarms which alerted them to the blaze. Police said they were uninjured.
Three vehicles in the driveway were damaged, along with the garage, and front door of the home. Damage is estimated at $150,000.
The fire appears to have two points of origin, although the cause remains under investigation by London Police, London Fire, and the Ontario Fire Marshal.
London Police continued to guard the scene Tuesday pending the arrival of the Ontario Fire Marshal.
At this point, investigators have no suspects, and have not determined a motive.
