London fire crews had an early start to the day as they responded to a blaze at a home in the city’s east end.
Firefighters were called to the house at 454 Mornington Avenue around 12:45 a.m. Monday. When they arrived on scene, fire crews could see smoke coming from a basement window that had been blown out by the fire. The lone occupant of the home was standing outside with a passerby.
Public Information Coordinator with the London Fire Department Rick Jefferson tells AM980 when they entered the home, crews had to knock down a door to access the basement. Crews were able to knock the flames down quickly, but damage is estimated at $90,000.
There were no reported injuries, but investigators are still investigating just what sparked the blaze.
Meanwhile, a fire at a home in Wallaceburg caused $50,000 in damage.
Officials with the Chatham-Kent Fire Department say they responded to a call at 88 Duke St. around 8 p.m. Saturday.
Thankfully, no one was injured as no one was home at the time.
Fire crews continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
