Damage is estimated at up to $300,000 following a weekend house fire in southeast London.

London fire crews responded to the blaze at 65 Meadowlilly Road South near Commissioners Road and Highbury Avenue at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

“When we arrived, the house was totally involved,” said Platoon Chief Doug Shannon.

“It was a single storey, large, ranch style house that was well away from everything else.”

Shannon says nobody was home at the time, and no injuries were reported, but it took firefighters several hours to bring the blaze under control.

“The house was actually sitting vacant. The occupant that was renting was in the midst of moving out.”

He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“The Fire Marshalls are here with our inspectors sifting through the house to see what they can find.”

An early estimate puts the damage between $250,000 and $300,000.
