Damage is extensive following a fire at a home in the area of Fanshawe Park Road and Adelaide Street Sunday afternoon.
London Fire crews were called to a blaze on Bobbybrook Drive at around 12:00 p.m. after residents noticed a small fire in the fire place’s heat ventilator.
When crews arrived, they cut open the wall area around the fire place. That’s when they noticed fire was contained within the walls and extended to the attic and roof.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire inside the wall, but had to cut a hole in the roof to get to the fire in the attic.
Fire officials believe the fire may have been burning inside the walls for an extended period of time before it was discovered.
At this point, damage is estimated at $80,000.
No one inside the home at the time of the fire was injured.
The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
