City police say a 21-year-old London man has been charged in connection with a lengthy string of arson cases.
Officers say they and the London Fire Department investigated a number of fires that happened between November 2013 and March 2014. They say the blazes were set in garbage and recycle bins, on discarded couches and mattresses that were on the properties between 1126 and 1154 Adelaide Street North.
Investigators say in one case, a suspect tried to set the contents of a garbage bin on fire, but it didn’t light.
Officers say no one was injured by the blazes, but roughly $1,700 in damages were reported.
Officers say they made an arrest in the case on Thursday, April 3rd, 2014.
As a result of the investigation, London Police say 21-year-old Brandon Woodward of London has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
- 16 counts of arson, causing property damage, contrary to section 434; and
- attempt to commit a dual procedure offence, contrary to section 463(d).
Police say Woodward was released from custody on Friday, April 4th and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, May 20th, 2014.
