The London Fire Department Warns Consumers of Faulty Air to Heat Exchangers Which May Pose a Fire Risk
In light of a recent major house fire, the London Fire Department advises the public to be aware of an important recall announcement. The Electrical Safety Authority, an Ontario public watchdog, has publicized a voluntary recall of Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRV’s) by the manufacturer, Nutech R. Hldings Inc.
The HRV’s were distributed from 1992 through 1998 and were distributed with the brand names of: Lifebreath, Tradewinds, Honeywell, Lennox, Fresh-X-Changer, American Aldes, Raydot, Standex, Sears Authorized Indoor Clean Air Services, Nutone and Airflow. About 12 thousand of these units were distributed in Ontario.
According to the ESA, the manufacturer has received 9 reports of property damage. There have been no reports of personal injury. The ESA identifies motors that can overheat, causing a potential fire hazard. Units with serial numbers containing the numbers 29, 39, 49, 59, 95, 96, 97, or 98 should turn the unit off and contact Nutech R. Hldngs.
