The driver of a transport truck that rolled onto its side on the 401 eastbound off ramp to Veteran’s Memorial Highway Wednesday morning was unhurt and out of his truck by the time emergency vehicles arrived at the scene, said Kevin Howe of the Middlesex OPP.

The large truck, carrying a full load of sugar, couldn’t navigate the on ramp and slid off the road with the trailer sliding down the embankment.

The ramp will be closed for several hours say Middlesex OPP so the truck can be righted and towed, as well as guardrails repaired.

Howe said the wreck is being investigated and noted the driving conditions were ideal at the time of the crash.
