Police are looking for a possible arsonist after two suspicious fires in the city’s north end Monday (May 20) morning.

At around 2:23 a.m., a citizen called 911 about a fire in a business parking lot in the area of Wonderland Road North and Sarnia Road. When the London Fire Department arrived, it discovered two vehicles engulfed in flames.

One vehicle was a school bus that had been parked in the lot, the other a transport truck parked near the bus. Initial indications are that the fire was intentionally set. Damage is estimated to be approximately $250,000.

At approximately 4:45 a.m., another 911 call was received about a fire at

St. Thomas More Public School, which is a short distance from the initial suspicious fire. A construction trailer located on the property was engulfed in flames when police and fire officials arrived. Damage to this trailer is estimated to be approximately $25,000.00.

The investigation into both of these fires is continuing. Anyone with information relating to these suspicious fires is asked to call the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
