A 33-year-old London man faces seven charges, including impaired driving and leaving the scene of a crash, following a series of collisions Monday evening (July 16).

Police said the crashes took place in east London just before 7 p.m. and began when a white van turned left onto Egerton Street off of Hamilton Road and hit a vehicle preparing to turn left onto Hamilton Road.

The van then struck two other vehicles at that intersection and left the scene, proceeding southbound on Egerton Street until it collided head-on with a pickup truck.

The driver of the van had to be extricated by the London Fire Department and he was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the first vehicle the van struck and the driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.

Contrary to other published media reports, police said only adults were injured during the series of five crashes.

The damage from the crashes is estimated at $38,500.

Police have charged Bradley Barnes, the driver of the van, with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, refusing to provide a breath sample, two counts of disqualified driving and two counts of driving a motor vehicle while suspended.

None of these charges have been proven in court.
