A 49-year-old London woman has been charged with arson after an apartment unit at 110 Cherryhill Circle was set on fire Wednesday (June 20).

The London police said Laura Raithby allegedly set the fire near the door of the apartment. She was the only one involved in this incident.

Just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the London police and fire department responded to a fire at the Cherryhill Circle high-rise building. After arriving at the scene, firefighters had to remove Raithby from the balcony of the first-floor unit where the fire was sparked.

At that time, Chief Tom Mathers of the London Fire Department said the woman may have suffered some smoke inhalation and was taken to Victoria Hospital.

There were no other injuries in this fire and damage is estimate at $30,000.

This charge hasn’t been proven in a court of law.
