Thanks to soaring temperatures and a smog advisory for the region, the London Fire Department has issued a ban on all open air burns within the city.
The ban was issued Wednesday afternoon (June 20) and is in effect until further notice.
The department will inform the public when the ban is lifted through its website at www.london.ca/fire.
Open air burning includes the use of outdoor fire pits and recreational burning under certain conditions.
Outdoor cooking may be conducted between 11 a.m. and midnight, provided the fire is no larger than 46 centimetres in length, 46 centimetres in width and 30 centimetres in height.
This policy does not include barbecues, which may be used at any time.
