A home in London’s east end was damaged by fire on Friday (Jan. 27).

Responding to a call at 1818 Park Avenue sometime after 4 p.m., a fast and effective response by London firefighters quickly contained the blaze.

Fire department officials on scene believe the fire started due to problems in a chimney. Heat and fire from the fireplace ignited combustibles in the wall, spreading from there to the soffits, attic and roof.

Damage is estimated at $100,000 and there were no injuries reported to either the occupants or firefighters.
