An early morning fire gutted a two story building at the Yocum Faust chemical plant at the corner of Piccadilly and St George Sts. The fire, that caused an estimated $25,000 damage, destroyed industrial chemicals, fish oils, lard, cod liver oil and castor oil. The fire was discovered at 4:40am and was not extinguished until the afternoon. For many hours huge clouds of smoke billowed out of the building. The loss incurred by the fire was largely covered by insurance.
