A fire or “working fire” are incidents that will require the commitment of most if not all responding companies, requiring considerable work to extinguish.

A London firefighter fleeing a smoke-filled upper floor at 87 Euclid Ave., on Tuesday doesn’t seem to share the glee of a jack-o’-lantern perched atop a porch.

Sweat and flames

One man was taken to hospital early today after a house fire at 16 Hope St. Flames gushed out the front and rear of the older dwelling and for a brief period firefighters had a tough time handling the blaze.

Downtown Blaze

London firefighters fought a Dundas Street blaze that destroyed the Tamblyn Drugmart and heavily damaged the Mascot Restaurant. In all, six fireman were taken to hospital.
