Emergency workers evacuated a homes near a Union Gas substation on Southdale and Nixon in London as a natural gas leak was investigated.

An LTC bus was used to shelter people moved out of their homes.Several streets in the area of Southdale Rd. and Nixon Ave. were closed by police.

There was an odour of natural gas in the air and a hissing sound could be heard from the substation.At about 10:20 the noise of the escaping gas was abruptly shut off and firefighters soon after cancelled the evacuation notice.
