The former Lambeth and Westminster Volunteer Fire Department has served the community well for many years. It has been cited provincially for its fine level of service as an example for others. Several of the firefighters have more than 30 years of service with the department.

The process of annexation set in motion a mechanism so the volunteer department would self-destruct and become extinct. It is discouraging to watch the media, politicians, administrators and even some residents turn this political decision around to appear that there is a lack of dedication on the part of the volunteers. Nothing could be further from the truth.
