A representative of the Ontario fire marshal’s office probed the ruins of a Horton Street wood·working shop Tuesday seeking the cause of a $I00,000 blaze.
Investigator Tom Dewhurst said the fire started early Tuesday in the roof area of Perez Custom Woodworking Co. Ltd. at 558 Horton St., owned by Vincent Perez of London.
Police put the damage at $100,000 but Dewhurst said the tally could run higher, depending on the extent of damage to equipment buried under a mound of charred wood.
Visibly upset by the fire, the owner, just released from hospital after surgery, refused to say ·he carried insurance.
“More than six employees will be out of work because of the fire.
