The new steam fire engine, ordered several months since for the use of the fire department, has not arrived, although it was shipped from the manufactory on the 16th inst., and last night, we understand, no tidings of it could be ascertained. It was stated that it had arrived at Hamilton on its way west, but a telegram to the freight agent there denies the statement. The person who was to hand the machine over has been in the city the past two days, and cannot account for the delay. He, however, thinks that it is awaiting shipment at Oswego. We trust no injury has befallen “Phoenix No. 2.”
