A retired London Fire captain is dead after being involved in a weekend motorcycle crash in Elgin County.

69-year-old Ken Gilders from Appin was traveling westbound on Dexter Line just west of Port Bruce when his Harley Davidson went off the road and into the north ditch on Sunday afternoon.

Gilders was transported to St.Thomas Elgin General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting Elgin OPP with the investigation which is ongoing.

A post mortem exam is scheduled for Monday.

Gilders retired from the London Fire Department 9 years ago and moved to Appin.
