A London restaurant sustained about $75,000 in damage in a fire Friday night that was discovered by a tenant in a second floor apartment.

Firefighters were called to the Campus Hi Fi restaurant at 736 Richmond St. about 11 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from rooftop vents and the rear area of the restaurant.

Crews forced their way into the building and encountered heavy smoke and high heat conditions, according to a fire department report.

Firefighters were on the scene extinguishing the blaze for about two hours.

The second floor tenant was relocated for the night due to lingering smoke odour in her unit.

The cause of the blaze is still being investigated.Campus Hi-Fi has been operating in London since the 1950’s.
