The London Fire Department say an overnight fire has caused nearly $80,000 dollars worth of damage to a home just west of downtown.

Officials were called to 117 Riverside Drive at around 1 a.m. Monday, to reports of a smoke alarm going off on the main floor of the home.

London Fire reported heavy fire, smoke and heat damage to the main floor, with damage reaching the exterior of part of the building.

No injuries were reported, as the basement tenant was the only occupant of the building at the time.

Fire crews were on scene for around 2 hours.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
