A fire in Hyde Park has damaged a family home just before Christmas.

At around 4:30 pm. Yesterday (Dec. 21), London fire crews were called to 1794 Seymour Cres. after receiving notification about a house on fire.

The fire appears to have started in the rear of the home, but extended into the attic. According to officials, “at times, flames were rolling from the fire in the rear of the house, across the exposed roof and almost to the front of the building.”

Eight units fought the blaze but the house suffered extensive damages before the fire was brought under control.

The roof covering the back deck and rear of the home is gone and there is extensive smoke and water damage to the rest of the building. The vinyl siding on the home is also warped and melted due to heat from the fire. Damage to the home is estimated at $250,000.

The cause of fire is under currently investigation by the London Fire Department and London Police Service.
