London firefighters and police officers were on the scene of a collision Monday afternoon (March 26), where the rear axle of a truck detached and hit a SUV ahead of it.

One woman was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries Monday afternoon (March 26) after a rear axle detached from a truck and crashed into her SUV.

The collision occurred on Wellington Road, just south of Wilkins Street.

Captain Al Braatz with the London Fire Department said at around 2:15 p.m., the driver of the truck was travelling northbound when he braked, causing the axle to come off. As the truck pulled over to the side of the road, the axle, which had tires attached to it, collided with the SUV, causing its bumper to fall off.

There were two older adult passengers, a man and a woman, in the SUV.
