Police are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck in the White Oaks area Monday night.

Emergency crews were called to Wellington Rd, just north of Bradley Ave. at around 10:30p.m.

Upon arrival, an elderly woman was found with vital signs absent. She was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say a vehicle was travelling southbound on Wellington Rd. when it struck a 71-year-old woman who was attempting to cross at an uncontrolled portion of the road.

Police have not released the name of the victim, pending notification of family.

The intersection of Wellington Rd. and Bradley Ave. was closed for several hours following the crash, but has since reopened.

The Traffic Management Unit continues to investigate.
