City hall, firefighter union ink new deal
A new five-year collective agreement between city hall and London firefighters will see average wage hikes of 1.8 per cent each year between 2020 and 2024.
The deal, approved by council Tuesday night, also includes a boost to mental health and vision benefits for those under the London Professional Fire Fighters Association.
“I think it’s fair for the firefighters, and I think it provides cost certainty for residents for five years, which is really important,” Deputy Mayor Jesse Helmer said, calling the annual raises “sustainable” when compared to inflation.
