London Firefighters saved three dogs and a cat after fire broke out in a southeast London home Sunday night.

Fire crews responded to a home on Hale St., north of Hamilton Rd. at around 6:30 p.m.

“When we arrived, we had heavy smoke showing and flames coming from the roof,” says Platoon Chief John Hunt.

“One person was on the front lawn suffering burns to his hands and feet.”

Hunt says the man suffered the injuries after he tried to re-enter the home to save his pets.

“Once we extinguished the fire, we did a primary search and found three dogs and one cat, and were able to resuscitate all of the animals.”

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Damage is pegged at $100,000.

Hale Street was closed between Ellsworth Cres. and Cousins Ave. for a number hours, but has since reopened.
