As previously noted, on November 15 1991, Engine 9 while responding on an alarm spun and crashed through the barriers and plunged to the river bank below. While all 4 fire fighters were injured, all but the Captain returned to duty. Just a few weeks earlier I photographed Engine 9 on the ramp in front of Station 9. I was also able to take a few photo’s of the damaged rig shortly after it was brought to the Apparatus shops. It was covered in tarps soon after.A new rig was ordered from E-One and was delivered fairly quickly. it was the first custom 4 door truck on the LFD roster. The damaged truck was sold and rebuilt. The Niagara – on the – Lake Fire Dept. purchased the truck and has recently retired it from service.
