It was a rude awakening for some residents in Byron this morning.

London fire crews were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Dearborn Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. to reports of a car fire.

Officials say they were initially concerned the vehicle was up against a home, but when personnel arrived at the scene they found it parked on the roadway.

Authorities say the vehicle was engulfed by flames, but they were able to extinguish it quickly.

Exactly what caused the fire is unclear at this time, and officials say damage was likely heavy.

Officials say they don’t believe anyone was injured by the blaze.
