Historic London Firehall #4 during Doors Open London.. a pleasure chatting with Chief (Ret.) Jim Fitzgerald whose father was on the department during the horse driven engine era… Jim’s son currently serves as a Platoon Chief on the department. Station Two’s Classics

Station 2 on Florence Street ran these two classic rigs during the fifties and sixties. Unit 12 a 1953 LaFrance 700 series pump & Unit 22, a 1951 Bickle-Seagrave aerial.

I am not sure when it began, but in the sixties and early to mid seventies the London Fire Department used a very different numbering system for the rigs.

All pumps were numbered in  a 10 series, eg. Unit 11 was the pump from Station 1, Unit 12 the pump from Station 2 and up […]

Thought you might like to see this 1961 900 was Engine 4. I have this in Charlottetown. Currently wrapped in pink and has about 4000 names on it of people who have, had or have passed away from Cancer. Will be back to red this fall.

On Saturday June 8, members of the OFBA held their second photo tour of departments in NE Middlesex Cty. As we had extra time, we visited London Station 11,14,1 and 10 and photgraphed the new rigs. Thank you to the crews that pulled out the rigs for us.
