Cooking fire extinguished: City firefighters respond to a small kitchen fire in an attic apartment on Craig Street in old South London Sunday. No one was hurt and firefighters quickly cleared smoke from the unit with their ventilation fans. (MIKE HENSEN, The London Free Press)

Woman dies behind the wheel on Oxford Street

A woman is dead following a serious crash on Oxford Street Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred just after 8 a.m. on Oxford Street just west of Wharncliffe Road.

A woman involved in the crash died at the scene.

Police say her death was caused by a medical event not related to the crash.

No one else was injured.

London fire officials are asking residents to help dig out hydrants following the recent dumping of snowfall.

Seconds count in an emergency and fire hydrants need to be clearly visible and accessible.
